Art & History Day Trips
Medieval Hamlets and Parish Churches
Departure with driver and guide for a full-day in Casentino
Visit the village of Raggiolo, Quoto and Poppi, the churches of Santa Maria a Bulano and San Martino a Vado, the town and castle of Castel San Niccoló, and two ecological museums (Della Castagna and Della Civilita Castellana)
Lunch will be a taste of typical Tuscan and Casentine cuisine

This tour will take you to Casentino, along the roads traveled in ancient times by pilgrims, knights, simple merchants and illustrious figures, in search of faith and new cultures.  Castles and fortified hamlets are the visible signs of their passage, along with thousand-year-old churches, abbeys and monasteries that conserve traces and vestiges of that medieval world which still continues to fascinate and interest.

Casentino
is a broad valley enclosed to the west by the slopes of Pratomagno, which separate it from the Valdarno, to the east by the range of the Catenaia Alps and by the mountains of La Verna, which separate it from the Valtiberina, traversed in its entirety by the river Arno.

You will discover tiny churches (pievi), and beautiful medieval towns, where many works of famous artists who worked in Casentino have been preserved.

You will be able to visit splendid medieval hamlets that have been perfectly preserved and refurbished using traditional local stone - representing the classic Tuscan town, surrounded by walls, complete with castle and church. These pearls of architecture will transport you back in time.
