Situated in the extremity of the secular park of ilex trees one can still admire its fine original frescoed halls inside the villa. Day 2: Florence Tour by Segway

This morning you will have a guided tour of Siena and Montepulciano.

Siena is one of the leading art cities in Tuscany. This city has managed to preserve its medieval character completely. You begin your guided tour with a visit to San Domenico, a church famous for its venerated relics of Saint Catherine, patron saint of Italy and Europe. Then, you'll head for the magnificent Palace of Monte dei Paschi bank, founded in 1472. This is the oldest bank in Europe. From there, you can reach nearby Piazza del Campo, the unrivalled center of vivid city life. Here, your guide explains the Palio, Siena's breathtaking bareback horse race.

With a stop at the Chigi-Saracini Palace, you finally reach the Duomo, with its marble pavement made with a startling sequence of 56 marble panels.

Chianti vineyardIn the afternoon after your lunch, you will visit the town of Montepulciano and participate in a wine tasting of Nobile di Montepulciano. Montepulciano, the home of "Nobile" wine, deserves a cameo appearance in the gallery of the most intriguing curiosities. A walk along the main street or in the alleyways of the town becomes a pleasant and unusual experience, the wine aroma blending with the harmonious music that wafts through the walls and reminding us that Montepulciano is an artistic city.

You arrive at Montepulciano, the ancient fortified town, famous for its antique cafés that, in a not too distant past, were the meeting place of many artists from all over the world. You will be given a winery tour and enjoy a wine tasting. You will also have dinner in a local restaurant before returning to Siena for your overnight stay.

Day 3: San Gimignano

Chianti vineyardThe morning is free to explore Siena. In the afternoon you will have an excursion to San Gimignano and you will meet a local guide for your visit of the medieval city. Once the seat of a small Etruscan village, the town increased in wealth and developed greatly during the Middle Ages, thanks to the "Via Francigena" trading and the pilgrim's route that crossed it. Such prosperity led to the flourishing of works of art that adorn the churches and monasteries. Due to internal power struggles it eventually divided into two factions, one headed by the Guelphs and the other Ghibellines.

After your tour you will have time for shopping followed by dinner at a local restaurant. Return to Siena for the evening.

Day 4: Siena – Artistic Chianti - Florence

Lucca. The Basilica of San Frediano Your driver/guide will meet you this morning for your excursion into the Chianti and the drive to Florence.

A full-day excursion to discover the so-called “minor” historical-artistic and architectural heritage of the Chianti area, a key to the understanding of the collections of art in each museum through an in-depth study of the theme of Marian devotion.

This area of wine country offers the most varied countryside of all Chianti, especially during spring and summer when the vineyards, olive groves and Cyprus trees are offset by the yellow of the broom flowers. The rare beauty has made this area one of the most sought after for holiday homes and small agricultural estates. Restored farmhouses dating back three hundred years blend in superbly with the surrounding countryside.

You will arrive in Tavernelle first and then continue to Greve. Your exploration of The Madonnas of the Chianti will introduce you to the artistic works linked to the figure of the Virgin and the history of the popular Marian devotion in the area. You will visit the three exhibition centers according to the works housed in each of them: The Mater Divinæ Gratiæ in Impruneta, The Mater Dolorosa in Greve in Chianti, and The Mater Dulcissima in Tavarnelle Val di Pesa.

Before arriving at Greve however you will go to a Chianti winery cellar and participate in some wine tasting. On the return way you’ll visit the Impruneta and one of the most beautiful Florentine villas. Before arriving in Florence you will stop for dinner in the quaint town of Figline Valdarno where you will enjoy a true Tuscan dinner prepared by Chef Claudio and his staff at the Torre Guelfa Restaurant.
