Day 1: Rome

Your tour starts with your arrival in Rome. Upon your arrival in the Rome Airport, our local representative will be waiting to greet and escort you to your private car. Your driver will transfer you to your hotel.

The balance of this first day is at leisure. Relax after your trip, or begin to explore the sights of the Eternal City.

Day 2: Ancient Rome Tour

Your private guide will meet you at the hotel today for your tour of Ancient Rome.

You will be transferred to the starting point of the tour which will include Michelangelo’s Piazza del Campidoglio where, from a nearby terrace, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. You will approach the Forum by the Roman Road used by the emperors of the past for triumphal celebrations, and explore the ruins of this ancient political, religious and commercial center. Finally, visit the famed Colosseum (entrance fees included) and learn the history of the spectacle of gladiatorial combat.

The balance of the day is free for you to enjoy at your own pace.

Day 3: Rome Vatican Tour

Your guide will meet you at the hotel again this morning for your guided tour of the Vatican . This tour will take you through the galleries of the Vatican Museums (entrance fees included), home to the most celebrated art collection in Europe. You will see Michelangelo’s incredible frescoed ceiling in the Sistine Chapel, and be awed by the regal majesty of the Basilica of St. Peter.

Day 4: Rome

A free day to explore the Eternal City on your own. Perhaps you would like to visit some of the many sites of interest around the city, such as the Piazza Navona, the Villa Borghese, or the Trevi Fountain, and absorb the culture and history of Rome.

Day 5: Pompeii Excursion

Today you will be met at the hotel by your English-speaking driver for a private excursion to the ruins of Pompeii. The city was buried under a thick layer of ash and pumice after the eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D., a disaster that nevertheless preserved the contents of Pompeii with fascinating precision. Entrance fees to the archaeological site are included and a private guide will be arranged to give you a tour of the ruins. Your driver will transfer you back to your hotel for your last night in Rome.

Day 6: Rome - Florence

After check-out from your hotel you will be picked up by your English-speaking driver for your transfer to Florence.

On the way, you will stop to visit two extraordinary Etruscan towns. In northern Lazio, you will cross a narrow bridge to the fascinating hill town of Civita di Bagnoregio, a place of awe-inspiring beauty and seclusion. In Umbria you will stop in Orvieto, famous for its Etruscan ruins as well as its Gothic cathedral and the excellent wines preserved in its underground cellars. You will arrive in Florence in the evening and check-in to your next hotel.
