Special Interest Day Trips
Departure by driver/host for half-day excursion
Visit the Synagogue and the Jewish Community Museum
The Jewish community in Florence has been in existence since at least the fifteenth century.
Your tour includes a visit to the Great Temple, also called the "Emancipation Temple", because it was the first edifice built specifically to be a synagogue in a public space rather than the parts of a family dwelling that were formerly used.
Following this, you will visit the Community Museum, which has been laid out in a single, vast space situated behind the central part of the women's gallery in a building adjacent to the city’s synagogue. The Museum houses artifacts dating as far back as the 16th century, including objects used during Jewish religious festivities and in everyday life, such as silver ornaments and embroidery.
