Departure by driver/host for full-day excursion following the religious itinerary

Your tour begins at Umbertide, a town of Roman origin, to admire the Monastery and the Abbey of Montecorona, founded in 1008 by S. Romualdo, with a characteristic octagonal and circular tower.


Heading in the direction of Trestina and the medieval town of Città di Castello, you will reach the Sanctuary of Canoscio, which houses a collection of Early Christian Art.  You will then reach the Abbey of Petroia, built in the 11th and 12th centuries, it is an important example of Romanesque architecture, with an broad crypt in its underlay.  At Morra, visit the Saint Crescentino Oratory, with frescoes by Luca Signorelli from the 16th century.

 

At Città di Castello you can visit the Monastery of Cappuccine, Zoccolanti Church and Clositer, which was built in the 15th and 16th centuries, the Madonna of Belvedere, a baroque styled building, and the Hermitage of Buonriposo, a place of veneration which is traditionally believed to be founded by St. Francesco in the 13th century.

 

Lastly, you will visit Montone, a little medieval town with an interesting Museum, before your return.
